Puppet performance of The Odyssey opens January 31

SALISBURY, MD ----Homer's epic tale of adventure and daring deeds on the high seas is given a lively staging--in miniature--as puppets perform The Odyssey on Friday-Sunday, January 31-February 2, at the Salisbury University's Black Box Theatre in Fulton Hall. Performance times are 7 p.m. on Friday and 1 and 3 p.m. shows on Saturday and Sunday.

The Bobbi Biron Theatre production of The Odyssey, conceptualized by Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, director of theatre at SU, is the work of three students collaborating in a winter term advanced children's theatre course. With guidance from Pfeiffer and faculty instructor and costume designer Lisa Lantz, students are responsible for everything from evolving the script to designing and producing the puppets, costumes and scenery.

This updated classic brings new appeal to young audiences with lively music and pop songs. The show is given a semi-satirical, farcical atmosphere with plenty of jokes and gags.

Tickets are $5 or one free per SU ID and are available beginning Friday, January 24, at the Guerrieri University Center Information Desk. For reservations or information call 410-543-6228.
