SSO Joins '60s Rocker Gary Puckett in Holiday Performance
SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra at Salisbury University (SSO) joins a leader of 1960s rock to bring holiday music to Ocean City, MD, this month.
The orchestra performs with musician Gary Puckett, known for such hits as “Young Girl” and “Lady Willpower,” during his “Rock, Roll and Ho, Ho, Ho Holiday Show” at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center 8 p.m. Saturday, November 29. The Stephen Decatur High School choir also performs with Puckett and the orchestra.
The performance is coordinated by Bob Rothermel of Special Event/TEAM Productions and features arrangements written especially for the show.
“We have some special arrangements being composed by Mariano Longo, who also composes for Wayne Newton,” said Dr. Thomas Elliot, director of the SSO.
In past years, the orchestra has performed with other popular musicians such as the Moody Blues, Anne Murray, Lorrie Morgan and Neil Sedaka at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.
Tickets for the Nov. 29 performance range from $25 to $35 each and are available at the Convention Center Box Office from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-551-7328.
