SU Respiratory Therapy Program symposium

SALISBURY, MD-- The Salisbury University Respiratory Therapy Program and the Department of Respiratory Care at Peninsula Regional Medical Center present "Partners in Respiratory Care Excellence III," the third annual symposium promoting respiratory care excellence and community health. Is is on Thursday-Friday, March 7-8, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University.

Titled "Advances in Neonatal, Pediatric and Adult Critical Care," the conference brings internationally known experts from respiratory and critical care medicine to the Eastern Shore to interact with respiratory care practitionerstherapists, physicians, nurses and students.

Faculty includes Dr. David Jaimovich of Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL; Dr. Robert Kacmarek of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA; Drs. James Leiter, and Harold Manning of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH; and Dr. Michael Pinsky, director of critical care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical.

According to organizer Dr. Robert Joyner, Jr., the conference is distinct because of the caliber of its speakers and the cooperation of efforts between the academic and medical communities of SU and PRMC. Because of its popularity, the conference has been expanded from one to two days and over 200 people are expected to attend, said Joyner.

For continuing education units professionals must register. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. on both days and costs $70 for one day, $140 for two, or, for SU faculty and students, $50 for one day, $100 for two.
