SU University Chorale Concert May 7
SALISBURY, MD-- On Tuesday, May 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Great Hall of Holloway Hall at Salisbury University, the University Choral presents its annual spring concert. Dr. Michael Weber conducts. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend.
The 35-member all women's chorale's performs a one-hour program of both traditional music, including folk and spirituals, and lighter pop with jazz. The chorale consists of women's voices from across campus and the program features student soloists and instrumentalists.
The first half consists of Clausen's "Psalm 100," Johnson's "Set Me As a Seal," Kesselman's "Akakomborerwa," Arirang's "Poorman and Lim," Grundahl's "Motherless Child" and Smith's "Worthy To Be Praised."
The second half is lighter music from the '30s and '40s jazz styles and also a gospel setting of the 60's anthem "Bridge Over Troubled Water." Other pieces are Ellington's "It Don't Mean a Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing," Warren's "Chattanooga Choo Choo," Gershwin's "Gershwin for Girls" and Prima's "Jump, Jive an' Wail."
