Vaughn Wagner Invited to Join FEMA/CDC Task Force
SALISBURY, MD -- Dr. Vaughn E. Wagner, assistant professor of environmental health sciences at Salisbury University, has been invited by a joint FEMA/CDC task force to participate in the training of CDC's epidemiologic rapid response teams. Wagner's area of expertise is chemical and bioagent releases. The integrated emergency management course will be given the week of July 22-26 at the National Emergency Assistance Center, Mt. Weather, VA.
The training course will assist the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in enhancing the Epidemiologic Response Teams preparedness and ability to respond to bioterrorism, as well as infectious disease outbreaks and other public health threats. Teams will serve in various types of emergencies, ranging from natural disasters, such as earthquakes or floods, to terrorist incidents, which might include biological, chemical or radiological threats.
