Confronting Traumatic Losses Workshop - June 7 at SU
SALISBURY, MD -- Dr. Terry L. Martin, associate professor of psychology and thanatology at Hood College, presents the workshop "Confronting Traumatic Losses: Adolescents and Youth" on Friday, June 7, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Salisbury University.
The final segment in the three-part series "Trauma, Loss and Grief: Responding to the Times," the workshops are designed for the continuing education of psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, psychotherapists, family counselors, nurses, drug and alcohol counselors, and rehabilitation counselors.
During his workshop Martin will define traumatic loss as it applies to adolescents and youth, and discuss different patterns of grief found among adolescents and youth and appropriate counseling approaches. He will explain developmental issues confronted by adolescents and youth, describe the interaction between developmental task and traumatic loss, and identify problematic responses to loss among adolescents and youth and ethical issues.
Martin is a licensed clinical professional counselor and a certified grief therapist and death educator in private practice, specializing in death-related concerns. He is a consultant to hospitals, nursing homes and other hospices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Dr. Mary Beth Williams and Dr. Ellen Zinner presented previous workshops in the series.
Martin's workshop is in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center. The program fee of $90 includes continental breakfast and mid-day refreshments. Lunch is not provided.
The program is sponsored by Salisbury University, the SU Department of Psychology and the SU Center for Professional Development, which is an approved provider of continuing education for psychologists, nurses, counselors and social workers.
