Web Development Director presents at CASE Conference
SALISBURY, MD ---Salisbury University’s Web Development Director Shelley Wetzel recently presented her insights about effective use of the World Wide Web during a conference in San Francisco, CA.
“Insights from a Web Developer: Top 10 Things a Communicator Should Know about Working Effectively with a Web Developer” was presented at the annual Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) conference. The theme for the three day meeting was communications, public relations and marketing on the Internet.
Wetzel’s seminar was among several topics presented including Web design, recruitment on the Internet and the effective use of e-mail. Conference speakers were among the biggest names in communications, marketing and Web development, such as worldwide content management consultant Gerry McGovern from Dublin, Ireland, and Kit Hinrichs, a principal of Pentagram Design in San Francisco.
Wetzel holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing from Shepherd College, Sheperdstown, WV, and a master’s in business administration with a concentration in marketing and Internet from SU. She learned Web design and development when self-employed in the Washington, D.C. area over seven years ago and joined SU as its first Webmaster in May 1997. The Office of Web Development was created two years later.
The Fruitland resident has helped develop graduate and undergraduate courses in e-business at the Perdue School of Business and chairs SU’s Web Advisory Team. She has advised, coordinated and implemented several new integrated marketing strategies for Alumni Relations, Sea Gull Century and other campus-related activities.
