Carter Daniel lecture

SALISBURY, MD-- Dr. Carter Daniel, author of MBA: The First Century (Bucknell University Press 1998), discusses the history of one of the two most popular graduate degrees in the world on Wednesday, April 10, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited.

Although scorned at first by business as too theoretical, and loathed by universities as indecently practical, the M.B.A. became the fastest growing phenomenon in the history of education. Daniel's lecture traces the challenges it has faced and the changes it has undergone during its first century of existence.

Daniel began his career as a professor of English literature but returned to school in mid-life to get an M.B.A. Since then he has served as director of business communications programs at Rutgers University for 25 years. His book, MBA: The First Century, is the only comprehensive history of business education ever written. His other works include The Plays of John Lyly (Bucknell University Press 1988) and numerous articles.

The M.B.A. Program at SU's Perdue School of Business sponsors the event. For information call Janine Vienna at 410-548-3983 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
