Writers-on-Shore - Nancy Mitchell

SALISBURY, MD-- Poet and teacher Nancy Mitchell reads from her works on Tuesday, March 19, at 8 p.m. in the Montgomery Room of the Commons at Salisbury University. Part of the Writers-on-the-Shore Series, admission is free and the public is cordially invited.

Mitchell's poems contemplate the seemingly insignificant moment, the overheard phrase, the fragmentary gestures which reverberate in far-reaching ripples in our shared life experience.

She is the author of The Near Surround (Four Way Books 2002) and has published poems in Agni, North Atlantic Review, Salt Hill Journal and other magazines, as well as the anthology Last Call (Sarabande 1997). She has been a resident fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and teaches creative writing at SU.

Books will be available at a reception following Mitchell's reading. The Department of English and Office of Cultural Affairs and Museum Studies sponsor the event. For information call Dr. Michael Waters at 410-543-6540 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
