Claremont Duo performs South American music Oct. 30

SALISBURY, MD ---Salisbury University's Office of Cultural Affairs and Museum Programs presents the Claremont Duo Juilliard Concert on Wednesday, October 30, at 7 p.m.

As part of SU's fall Latin American Culture Series, two-time Grammy Award-winning artists Maxine Neuman and Peter Ernst perform South American works on cello and guitar. The duo has just released its second CD, Divertimento.

Neuman, also a founding member of the Crescent String Quartet, the Vermont Cello Quartet and the Walden Trio, has appeared as a soloist before a sold-out audience in New York's Town Hall in the American premier for Viotti's only cello concerto. She has judged several international competitions and teaches at New York's School for Strings.

Ernst has recorded seven CDs and has toured throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and the Middle East. Widely recognized for his guitar interpretations of folklorist music from South America, he has also won numerous international awards in both solo and chamber music competitions.
