Communiversity Choir at SU seeks members

SALISBURY, MD ----Salisbury University announces the creation of a "Communiversity Choir," open to individuals interested in performing a concert of masterworks for chorus and orchestra. The performance will be held in March with the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra.

Director of Choral Activities Patrick Freer will prepare the chorus for the concert. The idea for the "Communiversity Choir" was suggested following the popular response to the community reading of Mozart's Requiem during SU's 9/11 commemoration.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings beginning February 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Room 130 of Fulton Hall on the Salisbury University campus. Auditions are not required, but prior experience and the ability to learn music quickly are recommended. A rehearsal pianist is also needed.

The repertoire includes Beethoven's "Choral Fantasy" (in German), Faure's "Pavane" (in French) and Vaughan Williams' "Serenade to Music" (in English). Music will be provided but choristers should bring personal scores if available.

Interested individuals should plan on attending the February 4 rehearsal which begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. To indicate interest, all should contact Freer with name, voice part and telephone number/email at 410-543-6386 or pkfreer@salisbury.edu.
