Exhibit "Mega Morning Calm" Opens October 5
SALISBURY, MD--Korea, land of the “Morning Calm,” is a culture rich in authentic charm forged by a proud 5,000-year heritage. On Friday, October 5, the Fulton Hall Gallery at Salisbury University opens the exhibit “Mega Morning Calm” which features the work of 14 Korean artists; “Mega Morning Calm,” is the title of the painting by artist David Chung.
“The title of the exhibit is representative of the powerful, yet calm impact that Korean-American art has,” said exhibit curator and SU painting instructor Jinchul Kim. “The exhibit’s main objective is to help people understand the visual evidences Korean-American artists create based on cultural shock and its drastic transition between two countries.”
The works exhibited range from those that are reminiscent of the realistic and fine detail found in Andrew Wyeth’s artworks to works that are “outside the box” and others that include only those elements that create simplicity and harmony.
Exhibiting artists include Chung, Kim, Kim Wonsook, Sumita Kim, Taek Lee, Sun J. Park, B.G. Muhn, Joung Ju Yi, Sang-hak, Kim Wi, In-soon Shin, Ho-Eun Lee, Jeannie Oh, Wan-seon Kang and Bong Kim.
The exhibit runs through November 5; an opening reception is scheduled for Friday, October 5, from 6-8 p.m. in the Gallery. Exhibit hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, noon-4 p.m., closed Monday. For more information contact the Office of Cultural Affairs and Museum Programs at 410-543-6271.
