Gladding receives Alumni Service Award

SALISBURY, MD ----Salisbury University recently presented Daniel H. Gladding ('78) with the 2002 Alumni Service Award, given annually for dedication and outstanding service to the University and the SU Alumni Association.

A Pocomoke City native, Gladding graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in biology. During a building campaign in the early 1990s, Gladding donated a sophisticated, $10,000 sound system to the Alumni House--a fitting tribute to his student career when he was well-known for his sound and lighting work with theatre productions in addition to his disc jockey role at WSSC, the student-run radio station.

One of the founding members of the SAE fraternity, Gladding served on a host of student organizations and committees and continues to be involved with SAE.

Following his graduation, Gladding worked at the University from 1978-1984 as a certified energy auditor, responsible for preventative maintenance, the post office, telephones, central duplicating and switchboard. In addition, he supervised the pilot project for Work Experience, SU's student employment program.

Once he left the Salisbury area, he founded the Baltimore chapter of the SU Alumni Association. He also served on the Alumni Association's board of directors from 1990-92, the board of visitors from 1998-2001, and the Faculty Appreciation Award Committee for the Henson School for the last two years. He currently resides in Alabama where he is an on-site administrator for Compel.com in the Social Security Administration.
