Poet William Heyen speaks at SU October 29

SALISBURY, MD ---In the first event this fall of the Writers-on-the-Shore series, Salisbury University's Department of English presents poet and author William Heyen on Tuesday, October 29, at 8 p.m. in the Commons, Montgomery Room.

One of the most widely-praised poets of his generation, Heyen is recipient of numerous awards including the 1997 Small Press Book Award for Crazy Horse in Stillness. He has published more than a dozen volumes of poetry and prose including The Chestnut Rain and The Host: Selected Poems. His poems have appeared in The New Yorker and The New York Times, and have been praised by Joyce Carol Oates and Maya Angelou. Author of the novel Vic Holyfield and the Class of 1957, Heyen addresses collegiate audiences across the country following his retirement from the State University of New York at Brockport.
