SU Dance Company receives SWAC grant

SALISBURY, MD ---The Salisbury University Dance Company, directed by Dr. Victoria Hutchinson, has received a $2,000 grant from the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council for its 2002-3 season. SWAC awarded the organization for continuing "to provide high quality."

The SU Dance Company selected 25 members during fall entrance auditions judged by faculty Judy Binkowski and Linda Scott-Collison. Fall semester guest artist teachers are Linda Hallman-Darr of the Suitland Visual and Performing Arts High School in Prince George's County, MD; Doug Hamby of Doug Hamby Dance, Baltimore; and SU alumna Carolyn Hitchcock-Evans of Henson Valley Montessori School in Camp Springs, MD.

Executive council officers are students Erin Rhoades, president; Kathryn Wickless, vice president; Tracee Torrillo, secretary/publications; Jessica Grabau, treasurer; Tammy Noe, public relations; and Jennifer Plourde, socials.

The Company is preparing for the 13th annual Fall Dance Showcase on Wednesday, Friday-Saturday, November 6, 8-9, at 8 p.m. in Holloway Hall Auditorium. The troupe also performs this fall at the Latin American Festival of Food and Culture, the SU German Club's Oktoberfest and the Homecoming-Family Weekend football game on November 2.
