Schneider presents work at conferences

SALISBURY, MD ---Dr. Sidney Schneider, associate professor of health sciences and director of the Respiratory Therapy Program at Salisbury University, was a featured speaker recently at the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation's (AACVPR) 17th International Annual Meeting held in Charlotte, NC. Schneider spoke on "Understanding Pulmonary Function Testing and the Relationship to Exercise Tolerance in Older Adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)."

He also presented research findings in the form of a poster session and discussion at the American Association of Respiratory Care's (AARC) 48th International Respiratory Congress held in Tampa, FL, from October 5-8. The research study "The Influence of Fev 1 Percent of Predicted on Exercise Tolerance in Older Adults with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Participating in Pulmonary Rehabilitation," was published in the September 2002 issue of Respiratory Care.

The study Schneider conducted jointly with other University and PRMC researchers seeks to bring about a better understanding of factors that influence exercise tolerance in older adults with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
