Strategic planning workshop offered November 1

SALISBURY, MD ---Salisbury University's Center for Professional Development offers the one-day workshop on strategic planning for customer and company satisfaction on Friday, November 1, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on campus in the Great Hall, Holloway Hall.

"'Strategic Planning-A Whole Brain Approach' will teach business leaders to think beyond their normal scope," said Rob Harris, president of Coastline Training and Development, Inc. and workshop leader.

"Strategic planning is a process, said Harris, "that requires a great deal of homework, scanning of the environment, assessing competitor capabilities and research into customer needs. That said, effective strategic planning requires the ability to think strategically."

The focus of the morning session is on understanding Ned Hermann's Whole Brain Thinking Model through content and activities designed to illustrate the value of mental diversity. The basis for strategic planning and when to appropriately strategize, analyze, organize and personalize is established.

The afternoon session is dedicated to understanding the concept of organizational alignment and practicing how to think and plan strategically.

Outcomes for the workshop include determining several models to promote strategic thinking preferences and using the thinking model to unleash creativity, promote understanding and improve organizational effectiveness.

Harris has over 25 years of experience in human resource development. Prior to staring his own company, he was a training and development specialist in manufacturing and served as an advanced technology center director.
